Dr. Ali Ismail is a distinguished BIM expert, known for his pivotal role in spearheading digital transformation within Dubai’s construction industry. Since 2019, he has been instrumental at Dubai Municipality as a BIM & Digital Construction Expert, driving the implementation of the Dubai BIM Roadmap, fostering the development of Dubai’s BIM standards, and steering the UAE buildingSMART chapter. Dr. Ismail has participated in judging panels for regional and international BIM and digital construction awards. He is the founder of IFC Web Server (https://ifcwebserver.org), an innovative open BIM data server and online viewer. Dr. Ismail holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and PhD focusing on Simulation-based Construction project planning from TU Dresden, Germany. His industry experience and academic journey resulted in 20+ peer-reviewed publications covering open BIM standards, Advanced Construction Project Planning, and IT applications in Civil Engineering.
